Saturday around noon, we started our trek to IKEA in Atlanta. We arrived around 2pm, and immediately decided we needed energy to shop, so we visited the IKEA restaurant and cafe'. Since IKEA originated in Sweden, we couldn't pass up the Swedish Meatballs, served with cranberry sauce and red potatoes for $3.99. It was great! For dessert, we shared Swedish Apple Cake. Excellent! Once we had enough fuel to explore the 366,000 square feet of affordable goods, we got our map, and started on our way. Our trip this day had a very specific agenda: dining chairs. Being the IKEA virgins that we were, we didn't realize the appropriate amount of time to spend shopping would equate to 1 whole day, not the 2 hours we allotted ourselves. In any event, we found chairs we liked, and a dresser as well. We ate lunch, were in, got our furnishings, and even a x-mas present for poodee, and were out in 2 hours and 5 minutes. I think we have just proved ourselves to be the IKEA power shoppers of the world. The other impressive aspect is that everything fit into the Saturn. Barely. We couldn't have fit in another thing.
After IKEA, we drove over to visit with our friends, Hannah and Ed. We joined them for dinner at Apres Diem, which is an international coffee house and bistro. It was good to catch up, and we started preliminary talk of a trip for Hannah and Ed and other friends, to visit us in Wisconsin next summer. We drove back home Saturday night, and today we are finding ourselves prepping for the movers and Emily packing and completing her pre-work needed for her business trip to NY this week.

I tried to warn you about the great IKEA! It is extrasensory overload to say the least. I am Ikea-less here in KC. The next nearest is Chicago or Texas :( I love Ikea & was very happy to hear you thought of me while you were there! Will talk more later, posting this from Panera & forgot my keyboard, so I am tapping this out. Love, Poodee.
